'Idol' Returns with Emotions Running High

America's favorite primetime talent show is back, and only "Extra" has an exclusive preview of "Idol's" hilarious return.
Fans can count on the good, the bad and the ugly auditions when season five of "Idol" kicks off in January. "Ninety percent who are there, shouldn't be, simple as that," Judge Simon Cowell said. "So we've just got to find the 10 percent who are good and send the terrible ones home."
Fresh off of signing his new 5-year deal, Cowell told "Extra" to expect "Idol" to be around for a long time. "If it goes five years, they'll go another five years," he insisted.
Host Ryan Seacrest admitted that season five will be filled with more emotions than ever. "More have really broken down than ever before," he revealed. "And I think that's because number one, it's tough in that room. Number two, they realize what's at stake."
Catch Simon, Randy, Paula and Ryan when "American Idol" premieres on January 17th.
