Brad Pitt to Adopt Angelina's Two Children
December 5, 2005

Angelina Jolie's two kids, Maddox and Zahara, could soon call Brad Pitt "Daddy" -- legally! "Extra" has obtained the court papers that Jolie filed in Los Angeles on Friday, asking that both her children's names be changed to "Maddox Jolie-Pitt" and "Zahara Jolie-Pitt."

Pitt's publicist told "Extra," "We are confirming that Brad Pitt is in the process of becoming the adoptive father of both children."

Does this mean a marriage could be on the way? People magazine's JD Heyman says not so fast. "Brad's rep says there are no imminent plans for marriage," Heyman said. "What we do know is that they intend to stay together, and Brad will very much be a part of their lives."

And from Washington to Los Angeles, the breaking Brangelina news had red carpets buzzing over the weekend. "I love Angelina," Queen Latifah said. "We've done movies together. We've been friends for years. Whatever makes you happy sis, I'm happy for you."

"Who wouldn't want Brad Pitt as your dad?" Cheryl Hines asked.

"I think it's great, it's fantastic," added Lindsay Lohan.

Just last week, Brad was seen cradling Zahara as the stealth couple went public for the first time as a family. Pitt, who turns 42 on December 18th, told "Extra" back in 2004 how much he wanted to become a father.

"Yeah, I think it's a natural progression," he had said.

So it seems one of Hollywood's biggest sex symbols is now one step closer to his dream coming true.
