The Men Who Make the Makeovers
December 29, 2004 Move
over doctors Troy and McNamara, "Extra's"
got three real life surgery studs cutting into primetime
and making television beautiful.
Looking for that perfect smile? "Extreme Makeover's"
cosmetic dentist, Dr. William Dorfman,
is widely recognized as one of the country's leading
dentists and is responsible for creating smiles for
many of Hollywood's brightest stars.
"It's really gratifying when I sit down in a movie
theater and all of a sudden I just see this huge smile
up on the screen that I did," Dorfman told us.
Dr. Brent Moelleken's specialty is
"Extreme Makeovers." "It's really sort
of a rags to riches story," he explained. "You
see these people actually get transformed."
The "Extreme Makeover" surgeon has been making
the Los Angeles area beautiful for the last two decades
and he says the reality of all the TV exposure is just
giving the audience what they want. "It's really
life imitating art," he said. "We've always
been obsessed by youth and by physical beauty, but now
people have a chance to do something about it."
Dr. Randal Hayworth is the miracle
worker transforming facial features and lives on FOX's
hit series, "The Swan." But Dr. Hayworth says
even worse than the pressure of the actual surgery is
getting everyone on the same page. "You have to
be on top of your game twenty-four hours a day,"
he explained. "It's a logistical nightmare in a
way. We have to decide which surgeries go first, when
does the dental come in, and it's almost like a military
campaign."
So if you want that Hollywood look, these are the Hollywood
docs you need to know.
