Josh Brolin Arrested for Spousal Abuse
December 20, 2004
Diane Lane and Josh Brolin are known as one of
Hollywood's most beautiful and loving couples, but
early Sunday morning, a domestic dispute between
the two actors went public when Brolin was arrested
on a charge of spousal abuse after an argument at
the newlyweds’ Los Angeles home.
Harvey Levin, producer of the TV show “Celebrity
Justice,” gave “Extra” inside
details. “The fight happened after a wrap
party for Diane’s new movie,” Levin
told us. “He pushed her when she was downstairs,
she then got upset, went upstairs, went to bed.
He then followed her upstairs, said, ‘How
can you go to bed in the middle of this?’
pushed her out of the bed, and that’s when
Diane Lane called the police.”
Brolin was arrested at the couple’s home,
handcuffed and taken to the police station where
he was fingerprinted and then released.
The 39-year-old actress, who was nominated for
an Oscar for her performance in “Unfaithful,”
married Brolin, the son of actor James Brolin and
stepson of Barbra Streisand, just last August. The
two told “Extra” at the time how much
they meant to each other. “I'm very happy,
I'm getting all blushy,” Diane laughed, while
James told us, "I had to go through a few to
get this one, but I got lucky."
Today, the couple's spokesperson spoke to “Extra,”
telling us that Diane did call the police, but that
she was not hurt and, "did not want to press
charges and asked them not to arrest him.”
An insider has told us the couple is back at home
together and, "are embarrassed the matter went
this far."
A spokesperson for the city attorney's office
confirmed to us that no charges have been filed.
