Who's Targeting Travolta?
December 15, 2004
Someone has been targeting superstar John Travolta
with threats. Now, for the first time, he's talking
about his security scare, only to "Extra."
John was recently honored for his body of work at
the Hollywood Film Festival, but the star and wife
Kelly Preston arrived at the event surrounded by
burly bodyguards, as security was alerted to undisclosed
threats against them. Our Jerry Penacoli spoke to
the couple on the night, but John and Kelly gave
no clue their safety might be in jeopardy.
"When there is a threat it's unsettling, to
say the least," John admitted. The couple attended
and left the event without incident -- and later
learned that, strangely, threats against the festival's
Lifetime Achievement honoree are not uncommon.
"I wished I'd known that, because I would have
been less concerned," John joked to us. "It
instantly relieved my stress."
And his relief was obvious at this week's premiere
for Travolta's new film, "A Love Song for Bobby
Long," where John seemed to be at ease surrounded
by the fans who love him.
"It's just something you deal with in public
because you're in the open air, you know,"
John reflected, but the superstar continues to have
security around him, and after the recent threat
you can bet he's not about to let his guard down.
