Eva Longoria Reveals Her Heart-Felt Mission
November 14, 2006
Only “Extra” is with “Desperate Housewives” star Eva Longoria, who put the glitz and glamour of Hollywood behind her as she traveled to San Antonio for a mission close to her heart.
Once in San Antonio, Eva poured her time and energy into a new charity for the mentally and physically disabled, a foundation called Eva’s Heroes.
“We want to make it national,” she said. “We don’t just want to stay in San Antonio or Texas.”
The charity was inspired by Eva’s older sister, Lisa, who is developmentally disabled.
Our Jon Kelley hosted the charity kick-off event, which included a fashion show and silent auction fundraiser.
But “Extra’s” own main man wasn’t the only guy there giving Eva a hand; so was her boyfriend, San Antonio Spurs basketball player Tony Parker.
At the end of the big event, a humbled Eva was beaming.
“That was awesome, that was great,” she admitted. “It was beyond my expectations. I’m speechless because we raised so much money. I know how to call people out. I’m like, ‘Dig into your pockets and give me some money!’”
As for Eva’s other passion, she dished a little top secret “Desperate” dirt to us.
“I do have a new love interest, which was very exciting,” Longoria confessed.
But Carlos fans, don’t despair. You haven’t seen the last of Ricardo Chavira.
“Carlos and Gabrielle are definitely not done,” she said.
Eva is also not done rooting for her close friend, Mario Lopez, who is closing in on the “Dancing with the Stars” title.
“My stomach is in knots, I’m so nervous for Mario,” she said. “I feel like I’m competing. I talk to Mario about five times a day going, ‘What are you doing? Did you practice? How’s it going? Did you get that turn?’”
