Banks
Tests Her 350-Pound Experiment
November 3, 2005 The
world is used to seeing Tyra Banks as a sultry, beautiful
supermodel, but in a bold experiment that is generating
headlines from coast to coast, Banks went through hours
of make-up and prosthetics to find out what it's really
like to be overweight in America. The result: a 350-pound
Tyra.
"It was one of the most heartbreaking days of my
life," Banks admitted. "As soon as I stepped
off the bus I saw three people turn and look right at
my face. I was stunned."
The "new" Tyra went on three dates and two
shopping trips, including a stop at a trendy Los Angeles
store where stars like Paris Hilton, Carmen Electra
and Lindsay Lohan like to shop.
"I felt the cold stares," Banks revealed.
"And I even heard some snickering from people laughing.
That was humiliating."
Believe it or not, Banks told us the dates went even
worse. "One of the guys on the dates, I said, 'You
know, as you can imagine, I have a hard time dating,
especially blind dates because of my size.' And he said,
'Oh, I don't have to imagine. I have eyes.'"

experiment, Monday on "The Tyra Banks Show."
