'Extra' Tags Along as Ellen Takes Show to NYC
November 21, 2005

The always-hilarious Ellen DeGeneres is taking her Emmy Award-winning show on the road, and only "Extra" was with Ellen and her crew every step of the way as they filmed all over the Big Apple.

Ellen's first stop was right in the middle of Manhattan, where she sang from the balcony and danced down on the floor of the New York City Stock Exchange.

Then it was off to Queens where the funny lady talked Cyndi Lauper into a little curbside concert right on a subway platform. "She got me some money, some water and a handbag," Lauper showed us.

Next Ellen journeyed to the Bronx, where the hardworking firemen of firehouse engine 42 showed Ellen how's it's done. "That was not my favorite part," DeGeneres admitted. "I'm still wondering if I broke something."

Next stop: Brooklyn, where Ellen arrived via water taxi and worked on her dance moves before Rosie Perez, Rosario Dawson and the cast from the movie version of "Rent" hit the stage.

And finally it was time for a ferry ride over to Staten Island, where Ellen went one on one with Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. "I think we solved a lot of problems," Ellen insisted.

See Ellen's whirlwind week in the Big Apple, starting Monday on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."
