Double Joy For Julia
November 29, 2004 Julia Roberts has a lot to be thankful for this holiday season. Over Thanksgiving weekend, the superstar gave birth to two healthy babies, a boy and a girl, at a Los Angeles hospital. "Both mom and babies are doing great," according to Julia's friend and spokesperson Marcy Engelman.
People magazine's Peter Castro got the inside scoop on the births, which came more than a month early. "She had the babies at 3 a.m. Los Angeles time on Sunday," Castro told us. "Julia herself said a couple of weeks ago that the babies already were six pounds each inside of her. The boy's name is Phinnaeus Walter Moder and the girl is Hazel Patricia Moder."
And before you raise an eyebrow over yet another celebrity giving her baby a unique name, consider the meanings: Phinnaeus means "wise person" and Hazel means "commander." Their middle names, Walter and Patricia, were given to the kids in honor of Julia's dad and husband Danny's mom, both of whom passed away.
There's no doubt these superstar babies will learn about Hollywood first hand. In addition to having the "Pretty Woman" as a mom, there's Uncle Eric (Roberts), who's already thinking of Christmas gifts. "They're very small babies," Eric told us. "So I suppose I'll be buying doll clothes."
Then there's Eric's daughter, Cousin Emma, who'll
probably be babysitting at some point. And there's
the extended family of Aunt Marcy Engelman, mom's
trusted confidant and spokesperson, Aunt Elaine
Goldsmith, a former agent of mom's and now good
friend, and Uncle Joe Roth, the head of Revolution
Studios and a dear father figure to Julia.
And while Julia doubles the diapers, she also doubles
the pleasure for moviegoers with twin movies coming
out: "Closer" with Jude Law and "Ocean's
12." With all of these special deliveries,
it seems this holiday season couldn't be filled
with more joy for Julia.
