All Grown Up
November 23, 2004 She rocketed to superstar status in the films "Freaky Friday" and "Mean Girls," and now Lindsay Lohan is ready to face the music. The teen queen is releasing her very first CD, and she talked to "Extra" about her career, her personal life and growing up in the spotlight.
"This is my job, this is what I've wanted to
do since I was a kid," Lindsay told us. "I've
had a full-time job since I was eight years old."
There's no doubt that Lindsay has had to grow up fast. Her recent breakup with "That '70s Show" star Wilmer Valderrama, her recent health scare and her provocative wardrobe decisions have landed her on several magazine covers.
"Its fun to be a girl and be sexy and everything," Lindsay admitted. "But at the same time I have a little sister, who's ten, and she's like, 'Oh, you're wearing that shirt, it's so low.' So I have to look out for that too."
Lindsay also set the record straight about what landed her in the hospital during the filming of her latest film, "Herbie: Fully Loaded." "I actually don't even know, we haven't found out," she said. "I was really overworked and really tired, and I know I had a kidney infection, and I wasn't eating right and I wasn't getting a lot of sleep. I had an asthma attack, I had a really bad cold and I had a form of mono."
But somehow, between battling illnesses and promoting
her box office hit "Mean Girls," Lindsay
actually found time for a true labor of love, writing
her own lyrics for the new CD, "Speak."
"I hope people aren't like, 'Oh she's just
another actress trying to be a singer, trying to
do the pop thing,'" said Lindsay. "Because
that's not what it is, this is really me putting
a lot of my heart into it."
And fans seem to like what they hear. Lohan's first single "Rumors" is a bona fide hit, but Lindsay isn't letting any of it go to her head. "So many people that are younger than me want to do this, and so many adults want to do this, and I have it, so you just have to be thankful for it."
She's only 18 and is on top of the world -- it looks like Lindsay Lohan will have lots to be thankful about for a long time to come.
