On the Red Carpet at the AMAs
November 15, 2004
The stars were out and shining bright at the 32nd
American Music Awards in Los Angeles, Sunday night.
Our Jon Kelley was working the red carpet, where
the man of the night, Usher, was definitely the
fan favorite, as the crowd screamed his name.
"I love doing this for the fans, man,"
Usher told Jon. "Without them it wouldn't be
possible."
But even as Usher headed for his four awards, Diana
Ross still reigned supreme. How does she do it?
"Hey, I'm a working girl!" Diana declared.
And no doubt, Gwen Stefani showed up with a new
entourage, a fantastically-costumed posse she claimed
were "from her fantasy."
Rumor Control Central
And "Extra" transformed the red carpet
into rumor control central, as the stars came to
us to come clean.
First up, Nick and Jessica. The question everybody
keeps asking: is the honeymoon over for the "Newlyweds?"
Apparently not. "We love each other to death,"
Jessica insisted.
"You'd like to think that everyone knows that
what's in those magazine's is not true, but at the
same time there's some people out there that believe
what they read," Nick explained. "And
we just want to tell all the people it's not true."
Hometown Hero?
Then we found out that Los Angeles Lakers superstar
Kobe Bryant may no longer be a hometown hero: the
NBA star was booed when he presented the Favorite
Soul R&B album.
Camera Shy?
And is the very revealing desperate housewife Eva
Longoria actually camera shy? Yes, if it's on a
red carpet! "This is crazy!" Eva exclaimed
to Jon. "You guys make me nervous and I get
tongue twisted. See, acting, you give me the lines
and I'm fine."
Feeling Their Age?
Moving on to the AMA Award of Merit recipients Jon
Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora - could these rockers
finally be feeling their age?
"Most mere mortals only dream of having fans
scream like that," Jon said. "I wonder
where their moms are, you know?"
Richie, accompanied by the dazzling Heather Locklear,
admitted, "It's unbelievable; it's a milestone,
I mean one-hundred million records."
"And only being twenty-five! It's amazing,"
joked Heather.
