Angelina in Love and War
November 8, 2004 In always-provocative director Oliver Stone's new epic, "Alexander," sexy Angelina Jolie shapes the man who conquers the world. Our Jerry Penacoli sat down with Angelina for a very personal interview about family, her sensuality and the role of a lifetime.
The new film teams Angelina with an all-star cast, including Colin Farrell as Alexander the Great, Val Kilmer and Anthony Hopkins. "If this is the only thing I did in my life, I was proud to be a part of this ensemble," Angelina told Jerry.
And even though the exotic beauty is just one year older than Colin, Angelina plays Alexander's mother. So how did she make sure she was believable as mother to the conqueror? "I knew that people would be out to criticize the fact that I was maybe too young," she admitted. "But we just aged me."
And does she think that all of those life experiences she's had, both good and bad, helped her in playing the role? "Oh yeah, absolutely, I could not have played this if I didn't have a son," she confirmed. "Anybody touches my son, I'd kill them, too."
And Angelina quickly killed all those rumors of romance with co-stars Colin and Val with just a roll of her eyes. "I'm romantically linked with every single person I've ever worked with," Angelina observed. "Because I'm a sexual woman and because I'm single."
The star also downplayed recent talk of a re-kindled romance with her ex, Billy Bob Thornton that started after she put an ad in Variety, congratulating him for his star on the Walk of Fame.
"There are worse rumors, you know, he's a great guy," Angelina said. "We've gone through a lot and we didn't speak for awhile and we've really tried to be good to each other."
Now, the woman whose real life has been an adventure brings her maturity and passion to a big screen adventure for the ages.
Meanwhile, Angelina's co-star Colin was stopping traffic in Beverly Hills at Barney's, showcasing the unique costumes from "Alexander," a role Colin revealed drove him crazy, telling us, "It was a very aggressive role."
"Alexander" takes theaters by storm starting November 24th. And you can catch more with Colin the Great as we go one-on-one with the Irish bad-boy, tomorrow on "Extra."
