Surgiwire™ Factoids
September 12, 2006
1. The Surgiwire procedure is a very simple and short procedure to perform. Each wrinkle or fold takes about 2-5 minutes to release. Contrary to what its name implies, no wire or device is left in the skin. The wire is simply a tool to free up the cause of the wrinkle (attachments from the undersurface of the skin to the deeper tissues/ muscles).
2. Even though it does not involve ANY incisions, it still is “surgery without surgery” and may result in some temporary bruising. Plan ahead before choosing this procedure because bruising takes 7-14 days to disappear.
3. The procedure does require some numbing with a local anesthetic (e.g. Novacaine) prior to its performance.
4. What you will achieve is sometimes dramatic SOFTENING of the fold or wrinkle, not complete elimination. The results are very natural. Results can be appreciated even after 1.5 years. Not all wrinkle/folds can be successfully treated with this technique.
5. For even better results, a filler (such as Restylane or fat) can be placed under the freshly released wrinkle or fold to provide some youthful plumpness to the area.
6. Everyone in good health is a candidate. Those with unrealistic expectations are not candidates nor are those with bleeding tendencies. This procedure will not substitute for a facelift.
6. Before receiving the Surgiwire, ask your surgeon how many of these procedures have they performed.
7. Cost varies according to how many wrinkle or folds are freed. On average, costs will approximate at $1,200.00-$1,500.00 for most of the face.
