Oprah Winfrey Takes Talk Show Reign to Satellite
September 25, 2006
Only "Extra" was with talk show queen Oprah Winfrey, her best friend Gayle King and the rest of their posse as they launched "Oprah and Friends," their very own channel on XM Satellite Radio, Monday morning in New York City.
"I think they have valuable information to share with the world," Oprah boasted of her closest pals.
And Oprah's first guest? Her boyfriend Steadman Graham.
We spotted the pair out and about in Manhattan Sunday night, and Monday she dished secrets about keeping her man happy.
"I make him a great love; we call it the love sandwich," Oprah dished. "You put cheese inside the turkey and then you heat it."
"She can cook," Steadman added.
There's no doubt that Oprah will be firing on all burners with competition from Howard Stern and Martha Stewart, both on Sirius radio.
But Lady O's newest XM endeavor is the latest jewel in her empire. With her TV mega hit, magazine, website and "The Color Purple" on Broadway, Oprah is worth an estimated $1.5 billion. Her satellite deal adds $55 million to her bulging bank account.
On "Good Morning America" Monday morning, Oprah also revealed that her channel will feature her private phone conversations with Gayle.
"I usually do it from my bedroom in my pajamas because it's our late night phone call," Oprah confessed. "We say so many things that so much has to be edited out!"
And this Tuesday, Oprah and Gayle are on the road again.
"Oprah's getting very annoyed, but I don't care," Gayle confided.
