Paris Arrested for Drinking and Driving
There's never a dull moment in the life of Paris Hilton.
Wednesday marked just another night in Paris Hilton's party world -- that is until she got arrested on the drive home. Hilton failed a breathalyzer test, blowing a .08, deeming her legally drunk.
"She was treated exactly like anybody who has no prior arrests," said Elliot Mintz, Paris' publicist. "She's clearly not a flight risk, was acting cooperatively and appeared to be in control of herself. She was stopped. She was given a breathalyzer test."
Before her arrest, Paris and Sister Nicky had attended a party thrown by Dave Navarro at a Hollywood hot spot.
TMZ cameras caught a glimpse of the heiress being driven away by cops and separated from her $500,000 Mercedes Benz and her best friend Kimberly Stewart.
Nicky and her boyfriend, "Entourage" star Kevin Connelly, rushed to the police station where, as the police report confirmed, Paris was quickly released on $5,000 bail.
TMZ's Harvey Levin revealed to "Extra" that Paris' old foe, the photographers, were actually responsible for her express check-out.
"So many paparazzi descended on the scene they were afraid the flashbulbs would blind drivers and create a traffic accident," Levin revealed.
Paris hitched a ride home with her publicist. She then went inside and let the spin control begin. "Without getting into specifics, it was the absolute lowest," Mintz said. "You saw how moments ago you could see that she clearly was not intoxicated. She had not had anything to eat all day. She had one drink."
But Levin says DUI isn't just a numbers game. "In California, even if you had a .01, but if you're driving erratically, they can arrest you for driving under the influence," he explained.
Thursday morning on Ryan Seacrest's radio show, Paris blamed the whole incident on hunger pangs. "I had one margarita. I was starving because I had not eaten all day," she told Seacrest. "Maybe I was speeding a little bit."
