Baldwin, Basinger Custody Battle Gets Ugly
September 27, 2005

The bitter custody battle between Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger over their 9-year-old daughter, Ireland, seems to have taken a turn for the worse.

Harvey Levin, the managing editor of the upcoming Web site, broke the news about why the police got involved.

"Police sources tell me Alec showed up last weekend to pick up Ireland at Kim's house, but nobody was there," Levin said. "He called the police. He was upset. He said, ‘She's violated the custody order.' They came out, took the report and then actually came back later in the day to see if Kim was there. She wasn't."

"Extra" has also obtained explosive legal papers, which were filed days before the incident. In them, Baldwin demanded more custody privileges. He claimed his ex-wife had no respect for his rights as a parent. Baldwin argued that all of this fighting is only hurting Ireland.

"I believe the child lives in a constant state of tension," Baldwin stated. "Wherein she must never display or divulge her true feelings for her father because of the mother's all-consuming and bitter feelings toward me."

We tried to contact Basinger's camp, but so far have received no word from the actress.
