Who's the Most Fashionable of Them
All? September 19 , 2005
Long, flowing gowns dominated the red carpet Sunday
night at the 57th Annual Emmy Awards. But what's a red
carpet without some skin? Luckily, several of TV's hottest
stars, including Eva Longoria and Paula Abdul, fulfilled
the night's quota.
Even new mom Heidi Klum in Dior showed off some post-pregnancy
cleavage.
And for mom-to-be Jennifer Garner, her black Badgley
Mischka gown was a last-minute decision. "It just
appeared this morning," she said. "I had something
else picked, and I said, 'This is good, I'll wear this
one.'"
Meanwhile, "Desperate" vixen Marcia Cross,
who became in instant style icon in a forest green Elie
Saab gown, also took it down to the wire, admitting,
"It was the first one I put on, and I didn't put
it on until Friday. I got lucky!"
And in Emmy's flashbulb fashion frenzy, the hot "Housewives"
ruled the red carpet, setting off the evening style
trend: jewel tones.
Eva Longoria graced the red carpet in a coral Angel
Sanchez gown, and Teri Hatcher looked stunning in a
midnight blue J. Mendel dress.
Nicollette Sheridan went classic in her dusty rose Giorgio
Armani, while Emmy winner Felicity Huffman dazzled in
her strawberry Kevan Hall gown.
And "Law and Order: Special Victim's Unit's"
Mariska Hargitay's gown was all about the bling thing.
"Carolina Herrera actually built this dress around
the jewelry," the actress revealed. Red carpet
royal Halle Berry also joined the jewel-toned parade
in her Ungaro dress.
And despite the heat, basic black was another hot trend
at this year's awards. From fashionista Charlize Theron
in a sequined flapper-style Chanel to Jennifer Love
Hewitt, who also went retro in Dolce and Gabbana, black
was as hot as ever!
The styling studs were also turning heads on the red
carpet, from hot TV doc Patrick Dempsey in a classic
tuxedo to "Entourage" star Jeremy Piven in
midnight blue.
So there you have all the fashion hits, now how about
one fashion miss: a nearly naked Tess Smith made the
red carpet blush in a barely-there dress. But it's not
the first fashion don't for Smith; the overexposed screenwriter
wore a bikini last year!
But who was the best dressed of them all? "Extra's"
top pick was Marcia Cross, who looked anything but "Desperate"
in her gorgeous green Elie Saab gown. Congratulations,
Marcia!
