There Goes the Neighborhood
September 24, 2004
Teri Hatcher is getting desperate, as in "Desperate
Housewives," one of this fall's most anticipated
-- not to mention steamiest -- new shows. Teri plays
a single mom looking for love, a role to which, she
told us, she can more than relate.
"I read the script and I was like, I have to be
in this show because this is my life," Teri admitted.
"Because, you know, let's be honest, I'm divorced."
"I think I keep a clean house, and I'm a good cook,"
she added jokingly. "And you can E-mail your application
to..."
On the show, Teri leads an ensemble cast of housewives
dealing with life in suburbia in their own way -- which
involves plenty of sex, lies and maybe even a little
attempted murder, courtesy of the character played by
Marcia Cross.
"I just think it was an accident, as far as I
can tell," Marica told us of that plot development.
And you definitely don't want to turn your back on
neighborhood bad girl, Eva Longoria. "I love it!
I love playing the naughty character!" Eva confessed
to us.
"Housewives" has some serious context as well,
as a member of the community commits suicide in the
first episode, leading her friends and neighbors to
wonder if something secret was going on.
But if all that drama isn't enough of a selling point,
how about some skin? "Oh yeah, me being naked,"
Teri teased us. "Naked Hatcher, second episode
-- be there!"
And you can bet we will -- "Desperate Housewives"
move into the neighborhood when the show premieres October
3rd on ABC.
