Star Sightings: All Around the World
September 10, 2004 The
stars were shining all around the world, Thursday night,
and from Venice to LA, "Extra" was there.
Will Smith, the beautiful Angelina Jolie, and Robert
De Niro all arrived by boat for the world premiere of
"Shark Tale" at the Venice Film Festival in
Italy. But in this film, the superstars aren't seen,
they're just heard, like De Niro, who plays Don Lino,
the godfather of Great Whites.
Warren Beatty may be 67 years old, but at the Toronto
Film Festival, he gushed like a teenager about his wife
Annette Bening. "We have four children, I don't
know how she does everything, but she does," Beatty
told us.
Bening may be the model mom, but she's come a long way
from her "American President" days in her
new movie, "Being Julia." "She's wicked
and that's the thing I liked very much about her,"
Bening said about her character.
In Los Angeles, it was a big night for the stars of
"Cellular," as they turned up for their film's
premiere, where appropriately enough, the leading lady
stole the show. Kim Basinger looked beautiful, ageless
and fabulously fit after doing her own stunts for the
movie, although she admitted, "I walked away with
a few bruises and cuts, but it was fun."
And in New England (and across the country), fans cheered
the return of the NFL, as the new football season kicked
off Thursday night with a huge party. Beyoncé spared
a second from the fun to update us on the Destiny's
Child reunion. "When you work really hard and you
hear the crowd, it comes to life and it's amazing,"
she said.
Lenny Kravitz and Elton John also performed, and Elton
even managed to crack a joke about Janet Jackson's infamous
Super Bowl performance. "I'm not going to get my
t** out on TV," Elton said. "I can tell you
that."
