Martha Waits; James Gandolfini Survives Crash
September 8, 2004
The glamorous Hollywood life is certainly not without problems -- it seems wherever you turn, another celebrity is dealing with their latest run-ins with the law, and "Extra" has their case files.
Martha Stewart is
ready and willing to begin serving her five-month sentence
-- there's just one problem: reportedly, the prison
is so full that there are no available cells for the
Domestic Diva.
So how's Stewart spending her time while she waits to do time? "Extra" spotted Martha leaving a New York restaurant with her son-in-law last week. She was tightly clutching a package, which appeared to contain personal photographs.
Meanwhile, "Sopranos" star James
Gandolfini is lucky to be alive after
a suspected drunk driver plowed into his car at a New
Jersey intersection last Saturday night. One witness
told the TV show "Celebrity Justice" that
the actor stayed amazingly calm: "He didn't seem
to be upset at all."
The police report from the accident states, "Driver number two admitted to running the red traffic signal and stated his gas pedal stuck." But police didn't buy the gas pedal story, and cited the other driver with a DUI.
To add insult to injury, Gandolfini's rental car broke down Tuesday and police issued him a parking ticket. "Extra" spotted the actor after he wrote "car won't start" on the ticket and put it back on his windshield.
Finally, Dawnette Knight, 33, is accused of making Catherine
Zeta-Jones' life a living hell, and
when she showed up at a Los Angeles court for day one
of her trial, the prosecution charged her with 25 counts
of making criminal threats and stalking the actress.
If convicted, Knight faces 19 years in prison.
