America’s 1st Family of Song Return
September 1, 2004

"The Partridge Family" is back so come on, get happy! But don’t think the ‘70s classic is making a complete renovation alone -- original "Partridge" Danny Bonaduce is back to help. "Extra" checked out the Los Angeles casting call of the new VH-1 show to find out just what we can look forward to.

"I like the idea, but I don't really like the idea of a new Danny," Bonaduce admitted. "It really upsets me. I'm Danny. Say I see kids auditioning for Keith, I say, ‘No, no, no, yes.’ If I see five kids auditioning for Danny I say, ‘No, no, no, no and no.’"

Judging is definitely going to be tough considering producers have actually turned the auditions into a reality show and America will choose who stars in the sitcom. Executive producer Jeff Margolis revealed that America will get to see exactly how the contestants stack up against the original cast thanks to technology that will digitally insert them into original episodes.

"Our contestant will be acting against the real characters from a real scene from a real episode," Margolis explained.

It may sound complicated, but ultimately everybody agrees it will come down to talent. See if the new "Partridges" can make you get happy when they hit VH-1 this fall.
