Usher Makes His Broadway Debut in ‘Chicago'
August 23, 2006

Usher is officially the new King of Broadway, and "Extra" got a sneak peek of the dancing king at rehearsal right before his opening night in "Chicago."

"I think this is going to be one of the coolest characters I've ever touched," Usher said of his role as Billy Flynn.

From Penélope Cruz to Gabrielle Union, Hollywood's hottest stars couldn't pass up the chance to see Usher debut his fancy footwork.

The five-time Grammy winner is brining his own brand of "cool" to dashing lawyer, Billy Flynn, the same role Richard Gere made famous on the big screen.

In fact, Usher is so determined to dazzle Broadway he said he's beginning to feel married to the role. "This is a wife! Damn, a girlfriend or a mistress," he insisted. "You report to her everyday."

Get your tickets while you can, because Usher will be lighting up the stage for the next six weeks.
