Mel Gibson Will Not Serve Jail Time for DUI Charge
August 17, 2006

Superstar Mel Gibson has dodged jail time for his DUI.

"Extra" has learned that Mel worked out a plea deal with prosecutors in a Malibu court Thursday. The embattled star plead "no contest." He will pay $1,300 in fines and serve three years probation. He has also been ordered to attend one year of AA meetings.

"Extra" has obtained court papers showing the original judge in Gibson's DUI matter removed herself from the case because she is Gibson's neighbor.

Meanwhile, an angry Jennifer Aniston is ripping reports claiming she's on her way to the chapel with "The Break-Up" co-star and real-life love Vince Vaughn, telling People magazine "I'm not engaged!"

In her first interview since the story splashed across the globe, Jen told People that not only does she not have a ring, but Vince hasn't even proposed.

Jennifer also revealed the story has created family chaos. "She said her aunt in Greece called, she'd heard the news," People's Jess Cagle told us. "When her aunt told people, ‘No, Jen's not engaged,' her aunt was being called a liar."

Cagle also revealed to "Extra" that Jennifer normally doesn't talk about the rumors, but this time she said, enough is enough.

"Jennifer says that people are getting a lot of bull, and she wants to set the record straight," Cagle dished. "She said the reports of them getting engaged are insane."

As for their relationship, Jennifer said she and Vince are simply "having a good time."

Another Hollywood star is not having such a good time right now, after Wednesday's breaking story that suggested he wedged himself in the middle of Kate Hudson's marriage to rocker Chris Robinson.

Now, Owen Wilson says someone owes him an apology, and he's got his lawyer involved!

The "You, Me and Dupree" funnyman vehemently denies reports claiming he's behind the breakup of Chris and Kate's 6-year union.

Owen, who's previously been linked to Sheryl Crow and a bevy of other women, has hired powerhouse attorney Martin Singer, who warns that anyone suggesting Owen caused the split could face legal action.

Meanwhile, it was mommy's day off for Katie Holmes, as the new mom made a rare public appearance. Mrs. Cruise-to-be flashed a smile and waved to the paparazzi as she left Barney's in Beverly Hills, even stopping to tell "Extra," Suri is "great!"

Katie and Tom Cruise's little girl turns four months old Friday, and the world still awaits the pink bundle of joy's debut.
