Why Hollywood Loves Marchesa
August 14, 2006
Petra Nemcova is perfection, Mischa Barton is magnificent and Lindsay Lohan is luminous in must-have Marchesa.
It looks like every leading lady in Hollywood is mad for Marchesa, headed by designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig.
"We've been so lucky with the people we've worked with," they revealed of their 2-year-old clothing line-turned-empire.
"Really, the label got going when Renée Zellweger wore one of our dresses at the premiere of ‘Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason,'" they recalled.
And the rest is red carpet history.
Felicity Huffman glowed in Marchesa at the Golden Globes, and she brought along the trusted designers just in case of a costume mishap.
"That was amazing," they revealed. "I was on the red carpet, following her down, checking that she was alright."
While Felicity was flawless, Penélope Cruz's dress caused some unwanted drama.
"Someone ran off with Penelope Cruz's dress; I was chasing her in a car through Hollywood," Georgina revealed, adding," That was four hours before the Golden Globes."
In the end, Georgina got the gown and the dress made its red carpet debut.
"For us, it's about making elegant dresses and making a woman feel as beautiful as they can and comfortable in what they're wearing," Keren said.
With superstars and supermodels dressed in their designs, we will undoubtedly watch Marchesa continue sewing up the spotlight.
