The Big Return of Martha Stewart
August 25, 2005
Martha Stewart is mounting a major comeback. Thursday
in New York, the domestic diva and reality TV king
Mark Burnett unveiled Martha's new set for her daytime
talk show, "Martha," as well as the theme
song for "The Apprentice: Martha Stewart," which
will be "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)."
"[The last year] taught me never to give up," Stewart revealed. "And to be an optimist all the way."
Stewart's electronic monitoring bracelet will finally come off next Wednesday, and while speaking at the press conference, she joked, "I have a microphone on one ankle and a bracelet on the other ankle."
Stewart also gave "Extra" her wish list for her new daytime show: "One person I would really like to have on the show is Russell Crowe. He was so kind to me in the last couple of years, offering me a place to visit in Australia."
Meanwhile, Stewart's daughter, Alexis, was by her mother's side Thursday morning. And Stewart revealed that Alexis will be her version of Donald Trump's Carolyn.
But don't look for a "You're Fired" catchphrase. "I don't think
I've ever said ‘You're Fired' to anybody," Stewart insisted.
And before we let Stewart go, we just had to do a little Rumor Control with the domestic diva. So, is it true that she's found love?
"We all have time for love," was all Alexis would say.
What about the house hunting rumors? Are Stewart and her daughter looking for
a place in Los Angeles?
"Oh really, I didn't hear that," Stewart laughed.
Martha will move into living rooms across America when her two new shows bow
on NBC in September.
