How it All Began: The 'Lost' Audition
August 19, 2005
The "Lost" exclusives just keep on coming, and today "Extra" unrolls the audition tapes from the ABC hit show. For the first time, you can check out the cast and how they were found.
"Extra" caught Evangeline Lilly, who plays the troubled-but-oh-so-sexy Kate on the "Lost" island, off guard when we revealed we had her "Lost" audition. "Everyone is going to see my audition tape, and I haven't even seen my audition tape," she laughed. "I'm terrified."
And believe it or not, "Lost" was Lilly's first speaking role. "I know, it doesn't make any sense," she insisted. "I don't think it's on the tape, but J.J. [Abrams] pulled me aside and said, ĎAre you ready for this?'"
The show's star, Matthew Fox auditioned for both bad boy Sawyer and hero Dr. Jack Sheppard. Other auditions on the DVD include an intense performance by Harold Perrineau Jr., and a more subdued audition by Emilie de Ravin.
And it didn't matter if you had just helped Frodo save Middle Earth, you still had to audition for "Lost," as Dominic Monaghan discovered. Before the actor went from hobbit to heroin addict Charlie, he showed off his sensitive side, reading for the role of bad boy Sawyer.
You can find these "Lost" auditions and much more when season one hits DVD September 6. Plus, we're giving away 40 copies of the DVD set. Click
