Eddie Murphy's Wife Files for Divorce

"Extra" has learned Eddie Murphy's wife Nicole has filed for divorce.

The couple has been married since 1993. They have five children. Nicole is seeking physical custody and she is asking for spousal support.

The papers were filed in downtown Los Angeles. Her attorney is high-powered celebrity divorce lawyer Neil Hersch.

Eddie Murphy's publicist, Paul Bloch, issued this statement to "Extra" on Eddie's behalf: "The welfare of our children is our main concern and their best interest is our main priority."
