Bling Off: Kerry vs. Bush
August 25, 2004
New York will roll out the red carpet for the Republicans
next week. But presidential hopeful John Kerry is already
taking a bite out of the Big Apple, stopping by TV’s
newest political powerhouse: Jon Stewart’s "Daily
Show."
Jon and John poked fun at the lack of focus on this
campaign's real issues, and after a little more chatter,
Stewart asked the question everyone wanted to know:
"Is it true that every time I use ketchup, your
wife gets a nickel?"
But it’s not as if Kerry would need the pocket change. According to VH1's "Fabulous Life: Bush vs. Kerry Bling Off," which airs Monday, Kerry's wife Teresa Heinz has plenty.
"Teresa is reportedly worth over $1 billion,"
Us magazine’s Janice Minn said. "You can do a lot
of things with a billion dollars."
And one of the ways Teresa uses her funds is supporting her husband's famous coif, which costs $1,000 a cut, or his tie collection, worth a reported $26,000.
But don't write off President Bush just yet. Minn revealed, "Bush plays golf at a private club on an island in Florida called Gasparilla. The membership is $135,000 a year."
Bush also threw a $400,000 inauguration barbecue. But
the one thing Bush has that Kerry doesn’t is his own
personal antagonist. Michael Moore appears on the cover
of the new Rolling Stone, where he was asked to say
something nice about the president. His response: "He’s
good to his dogs."
Stay tuned as this campaign careens toward November.
