LL is 'The Definition' of Cool
August 24, 2004
Hip hop's smooth and sexy superstar, with a six pack to die for, is back. With 11 albums under his belt, it's hard to believe LL Cool J is just 36, but he's been flashing his rock-hard abs for nearly two decades. "I'm not trying to be sexy. I think guys who are trying to be sexy are un-sexy," Cool J insisted to us.
LL's kicking off his brand new album, "The Definition," with his banging single, "Headsprung." "This is the first record that I wanted to make sure was specifically designed for party -- I wanted it to be a party record," LL said. "That's really different from my last albums."
"I love what I do," Cool J continued. "When you love what you do, you live it, you breathe it, you love it."
And though ladies love Cool J, the two-time Grammy winner loves doing more than just music -- he's venturing into fashion with his new clothing line, James Todd Smith, (LL's real name). "It's upscale apparel and mid-level apparel. I want to make sure it's sexy and real cool," Cool J explained to us.
And he's also got some big-time movie roles coming up. The star recently wrapped production on the action-thriller "Mindhunters" with Val Kilmer and "Edison," a drama co-starring Morgan Freeman, Kevin Spacey and Justin Timberlake. "That was a lot of fun," Cool J told us." "It's the smartest movie I've ever been a part of."
So did the music and movie veteran have any advice for young gun Justin? "He was really well prepared and ready to go," LL said of Timberlake. "A lot of people who are expecting him to fail will be surprised."
LL Cool J's new CD, "The Definition," hits stores next Tuesday.
