Star Justice: Stamos Divorce Final, Kobe Headed to Trial
August 23, 2004
Inside information from the courtroom showdowns of John Stamos, Kobe Bryant, Sandra Bullock and Michael Jackson.
They met when he starred in "Full House,"
and their split shocked Hollywood -- now John
Stamos will soon be the former spouse of Rebecca
Romijn-Stamos. "Extra" has
obtained the papers filed by the star seeking a split
based on "irreconcilable differences." The
two have said they will keep things civil and the legal
papers show there is apparently no prenuptial agreement,
meaning a judge will have to divide all the property.
The couple was married for five years, but had no kids.
Meanwhile, the Kobe Bryant
case has generated lots of talk suggesting the alleged
victim might not want to testify and Kobe might not
go to trial on sexual assault charges. But according
to the "Celebrity Justice" TV show, the case
will indeed go to trial next week. Sources say that
although the District Attorney's office is less than
confident they can win a conviction, the accuser is
apparently adamant about telling her side of the story.
The trial is expected to take about a month.
She was the nicest one on the runway in "Miss Congeniality,"
but in court, Sandra Bullock
plays it a bit tougher. It's week two for the fight
over construction of the actress’s home near Austin,
Texas. The builder claims Bullock owes him millions
for doing the work, but Sandra says Benny Daneshjou
botched the job and overcharged her for the 10,000-square-foot
lakefront home.
And finally, there’s been a shocking discovery in the
Michael Jackson case.
Police found a mysterious tape recording of a child's
voice stashed inside a safe in the singer's bedroom.
On the tape, the youngster seems to be talking on the
phone and when he or she says, "I've got to go,
somebody's coming," alarms sound in the background.
Police found the tape when they searched Neverland Ranch
last November.
