Star Justice: Courtney's New Leaf, Sandra's First Time
August 20, 2004
Two big-name stars were in court Friday: Sandra Bullock
and Courtney Love. "Extra" got the details
on the new and improved Courtney Love, and how Bullock's
day turned into a family affair.
Beautiful leading lady Sandra Bullock came with her
father to court Friday, to fight against the developer
of her Austin mansion.
Sandra fell in love with Austin while shooting her movie
"Hope Floats" in 1998, and decided to build
a house there -- but she likely never imagined her dream
house would end up as a courthouse nightmare. Today
the jury heard opening arguments in the lawsuit Sandra's
against the developer for, "defective work."
Meanwhile, a very different Courtney Love showed up
to a Los Angeles courthouse. The usually rebellious
rocker was on time, conservatively dressed and humble.
"It's scary," she revealed to us. "I'm
scared"
Love is charged with beating aspiring rock singer Kristin
King with a liquor bottle and a metal flashlight. Courtney
pleaded "not guilty," but the experience left
her badly shaken. "I just want to play music, and
being in the court and having him say, 'The State of
California Versus Me.' It's just scary," she told
us.
The judge reminded Love to stay away from King, and
on the way out, the singer seemed to regain her sense
of humor, saying to a police officer, "No offense,
but I hope I never see you again."
