Hey
Ya! Esquire's Men of the Moment
August 20, 2004
Jude Law, Hugh Grant and Prince Charles are among the
fashion-forward guys who's sartorial savvy's landed them
on Esquire magazine's list of Best Dressed Men in the
World. And while the magazine's Associate Editor Chris
Berend says Charles is "the most regal of them all,"
he declares, "Each one of these guys is an individualist."
So who tops the list? You may be surprised that the honor
goes to Outkast's flamboyant rapper, Andre 3000 -- but
Berend explains the choice by saying, "He manages
to take old-school preppy looks and mix them into something
completely new and original."
And André's not the only musician who made the
list; Neptunes producer Pharrell Williams and Gwyneth
Paltrow's husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin also
made the cut. "[Martin] takes T-shirts, and he puts
on a really nice suit jacket or blazer over it that makes
it dressed up a little bit," says Berend.
Meanwhile, actor Paul Bettany's clean, casual and comfy style helped land him a spot. "He is kind of stepping out and becoming a style icon," Berend explains.
And "Today" show co-host Matt Lauer, who suited
up in his own gear for his photo shoot, also made the
cut. "We call him our best dressed wake-up call,"
Berend says. "Essentially he is the best dressed
cup of coffee in the morning."
