The Loves of a Candidate
August 17, 2004 It's a side of John Kerry you've never seen before. For the first time, the presidential candidate is opening up about a very personal subject -- women. In the September issue of GQ magazine, Kerry goes one-on-one with Deputy Editor Michael Hainey, and actually lists his all-time sexiest stars.
Marilyn Monroe made Kerry's list, as well as Charlize Theron. And his all-time number one won't generate much debate: Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Kerry also opened up about his days as bachelor John. And although he dated stars like Morgan Fairchild, Dana Delaney and Michele Phillips, Kerry revealed that he hated being alone.
"He was very open and very revealing," Hainey told us of Kerry. "He told me those were very dark days. He was very unhappy at the time and he said, 'Thank God I met Teresa. She saved me.'"
Kerry also revealed his "rules of attraction," starting with the turn-ons that drew him to Teresa: smart, confident, sense of self, sexy, saucy and challenging.
And for the first time, Kerry also revealed that he had a superstar adviser in the 80's -- Marlon Brando. The screen legend was a close friend of the Kerry family, and the candidate said that Brando actually gave him a lot of suggestions about US policy in Nicaragua.
"He tells us that Brando made a lot of policy suggestions and he tells us that he actually took some of them to heart," Hainey revealed.
You can get even more candidate details when the new GQ hits newsstands next week.
