Reese's Pieces: Motherhood, Marriage
and More August 16, 2004
In Reese Witherspoon's new movie, "Vanity Fair," you'll see the star like you've never before. In the film, Witherspoon plays a scheming social climber in the 1800's, who's not afraid to use her sexuality to move up in the world. "Extra" hooked up with the star to get her take on the film and so much more.
"Extra:" So do your kids even know that you're
famous?
Witherspoon: Oh sure, oh yeah.
E: Outside of your kids, what are you most proud of?
W: My marriage, (Witherspoon is married to actor Ryan
Phillippe) marriage isn't easy, and it's something I
work very hard at.
E: In "Vanity Fair" you play Becky Sharp,
and for the first time we see you as a really sexual
woman. Thoughts?
W: Oh, I know. Ouch.
E: In Vanity Fair magazine, you said you'd never wear
a bikini again in a movie. Why are you so firm on that?
W: Oh, I don't know. I was having a mood. What I was
saying was I had to work out so hard to do the bikini
in "Legally Blonde." I get awkward and embarrassed.
E: You just had your second child, so is your secret
really doing 200 sit-ups a day?
W: (laughing) Is that what I do? I do run a lot. I run,
and I exercise and lift weights.
E: So do you want more kids?
W: I would love more kids, but I can't even imagine.
I live bedtime to bedtime right now, and I can't imagine
having another bedtime.
E: What would your dream role be?
W: Co-starring with Meryl Streep. She's pretty amazing.
