Burt’s Back and As Sexy As Ever
August 6, 2004
Get ready to see a lot of Burt Reynolds in the next
year. He's set to storm the silver screen with a barrage
of roles, and we caught up with the legend as he prepared
for his surprise return to the big screen, on the set
of his upcoming film, "Cloud Nine."
The film marks the actor’s first big movie since receiving an Oscar nomination for "Boogie Nights" six years ago. It’s also just one of five movies he’s making back-to-back, in a summer box-office blitz.
"I guess it's a great compliment, you know," Reynolds admitted.
And even at 68, the actor certainly hasn’t lost his touch -- his beautiful and young co-stars have quickly fallen for his famous charm. "The man is a God," co-star Gabrielle Reece told us.
But Burt balks at being called the sex icon of the 21st century. "Oh, stop -- no, no no," he insisted.
Nonetheless, the twice-married, one-time husband of Loni Anderson did confirm his co-stars reports of his flirting, confessing he has just as great a weakness for women as ever: "Oh yes, I’m not dead, I flirt," he laughed. "It’s very sweet of them. I think they’re being very kind."
Reynolds has been quoted before as saying that while he’s in a relationship, he’s monogamous -- but when he’s not, he’s carnivorous. And this is one life mantra that hasn’t changed for the big guy. "I had that on T-shirts at one time, and caught a lot of hell for it," he admitted. "But I think it is true, and I think it's a good idea."
Meanwhile, Burt revealed some secrets about his illustrious
career to "Extra" when we spoke about another
of his upcoming movies, "Without a Paddle,"
which is a spoof of his classic, "Deliverance."
After a lifelong career, Burt named his favorite films:
"’Deliverance’ was probably the best picture,"
he told us. "’Smokey and the Bandit’ was the most
fun."
And who knows, one of the five movies he has in production this year just might figure in there somewhere too.
