Where the Stars Dine in Vegas
August 2, 2004 Gambling,
hot clubs and gigantic hotels aren’t the only things
you’ll find in Las Vegas -- there’s also a plethora
of fine dining to choose from. So put down those dice
and say so-long to buffet lines, because "Extra"
is taking a bite out of Vegas.
To help us in our search of the finest food Sin City
has to offer, we enlisted Michael Politz, publisher
of Food Service Magazine, who told us, "People
are coming here for the food, the gaming next."
Charlie Palmer Steak House at the Four Seasons
Famous faces: Dine with the likes of Mike Myers, Dennis
Quaid and Dustin Hoffman. Chef factor: Executive Chef
Stephen Blandino will serve you up the stars’ favorite
dishes. Politz’s take: "This is the hottest hidden
secret in Vegas."
Hard Rock
Famous faces: Rub elbows with Kurt and Goldie, munch
on Salmon with Fred or eat Adam Sandler’s favorite dish.
Simon
Big-time bonus: schmooze and peruse without spending
a fortune. According to co-owner and Chef Keri Simon:
"We’re a medium-priced restaurant." Star recommendation:
When George Clooney comes, he's a big rib-eye fan.
Nine Steakhouse at the Palms
Reputation: Where the beautiful people hang out Star
factor: You’re likely to spot Palms owner George Maloof,
Leonardo DiCaprio or Tobey Maguire. Maloof says: "Lots
of pretty girls and guys."
Bouchon at the Venetian
Bonus: The restaurant not only attracts celebrities,
it's got one in the kitchen -- world-renowned Chef Thomas
Keller offers a little French flavor. Aura: "It’s
all about a fundamental restaurant concept that comes
from France. Customers are coming in and having a good
time, the oyster bar is something that they're really
embracing," Politz said.
Aureole at Mandalay Bay
Main attraction: A wine tower standing over 200 feet
tall, attended by "wine-angels" who soar on
wires, is stocked with enough red and white to fill
a Vegas pool.
So whether it's a smooth drink or a prime cut to fill
your pallet,
