Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx On the Hot Seat
August 2, 2004
Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx's "Collateral" hits theaters on Friday, so "Extra" took a moment to put both stars in the hot seat together for a two-way interview you won't see anywhere else.
"Extra:" What makes Tom Cruise such a great actor?
Foxx: No matter what you do to Tom Cruise, you're never going to make him look ugly. No matter what, he's going to shine through.
"Extra:" So what brought you both together to star in "Collateral?"
Foxx: Michael Mann called me and said, "Hey, do you want to do a movie with Tom Cruise?" And I said, "Hell yeah." And he said, "But you don't even know what the script is." I said, "I don't care if it's ABC's or singing show tunes, I'm in there." So that was it.
"Extra:" What was it like working together?
Foxx: Everyone knows Tom Cruise is at the top of the food chain. So to meet him, and to do our thing, that was a blessing.
"Extra:" What was the craziest thing that happened while filming?
Cruise: "The craziest, funniest moment had to be the crash. I never told anybody this but, what happened was Michael Mann tells me to take off in a cab and scrape the side of the cars. So we jump in this car, [Foxx] hits it and we hit the side of that car so hard my head hits the ceiling. And then my face went up against the Plexiglas. I look up and [Foxx's] eyes are like this and his foot is on the accelerator. Oh man, you just shredded that Mercedes. By the time we got done, I was laughing so damn hard."
Stay tuned to "Extra" all week as we get up close and personal with Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx as we count down to "Collateral."
