McConaughey and Oprah Team Up for Hurricane Relief
July 19, 2006
Only "Extra" was at the beach with the tanned and toned Sexiest Man Alive, Matthew McConaughey, as he tore up the water in the Huntington Beach surf.
But the hot actor has much more on his mind than playing at the beach. On Wednesday, Matthew announced he's diving back in headfirst to help raise money for hurricane victims.
"I'm auctioning off my 1971 convertible Corvette Stingray," he revealed.
All the money raised from the eBay auction will benefit Oprah's Angel Network for Hurricanes Katrina and Rita's ongoing recovery efforts. "That's a good thing," Matthew said.
The Internet auction is currently up and will run through next Thursday.
"Come on people," McConaughey coaxed his fans. "Let's over pay for this Corvette and know 100 percent of every dollar is going to a good cause."
Us Weekly Senior Editor Caroline Schaeffer told us that in addition to his desire to help others, the generous and newly single Matthew is dying to be a dad. "He talks about how he really wants to have kids, anywhere from two to 14," Schaeffer revealed. "He doesn't want to hire a nanny but raise them himself."
Matthew also opened up in the new Us Weekly, sharing a little home spun secret: he uses a moisturizer that he makes himself.
He also credits his new and highly publicized workouts with new BFF, Lance Armstrong, for that rock hard body. "It's a great two-hour workout going up hills," he said. "But it's fun."
