Christie Brinkley Calls It Quits with Husband No. 4
July 12, 2006

Supermodel Christie Brinkley recently told "Extra," "My life is full and rich." But now comes more marital heartache for Billy Joel's former Uptown Girl.

Brinkley announced Tuesday that she and her fourth husband, handsome architect Peter Cook, have split.

The news comes as a shocker since Christie recently revealed how great their 10-year pairing truly was. "We are the real soccer mom and dad," she confessed.

So what went wrong? "Extra's" got the break-up breakdown from People magazine's Robin Micheli.

"We've heard nothing about a third party," Micheli revealed. "I don't think anybody realized they were having problems."

Christie and Peter tied the knot in 1996, and at the time, seemed picture perfect. They lived in a glamorous Hamptons pad and raised their 8-year-old daughter Sailor Lee, the daughter the couple called their miracle baby.

Sailor was conceived after three heartbreaking miscarriages. Back in 1998, a pregnant Christie and Peter couldn't contain their excitement. "It's a girl!" they shared, with Peter adding, "Going to be a carbon copy of mom here."

Today, Christie's publicist told us, "Christie's immediate concern is for her children."

The age-defying 52-year-old supermodel has two other children and has suffered her share of person drama, including famously surviving a helicopter crash with third husband Richard Taubman.

But despite many broken marriages, Christie doesn't hold a grudge against her exes. She managed to stay friends with Billy Joel; Christie and Cook even attended Billy's 2004 wedding, where she told "Extra," "Congratulations to Billy and Kate."

But now the burning question remains: will Christie's split turn into a big bucks family feud?

"I would expect this will be a fairly friendly party," Micheli predicted.
