The 'Pirates' Return After 3-Year Wait
July 7, 2006

It's the blockbuster sequel fans have waited three years to see.

But "Pirates" is going to have to overcome the Man of Steel if it really wants that box office booty, and "Extra" is doing a little comparison of the summer's two biggest flicks.

On the "Pirates" side is an A-list cast led by Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley, while "Superman Returns" is led by newcomer Brandon Routh, Kevin Spacey and, coincidentally, Orlando's real-life gal pal Kate Bosworth.

Both "Pirates" and "Superman" had huge budgets of about $200 million, but there's more of a disparity between the big stars.

Depp reportedly landed a $20 million plus payday for his big-screen return, while Routh's big screen debut was a good first score at just more than $1 million.

But perhaps "Pirates" has an ace in the hole, as there's a surprise romantic liaison between two of the world's most beautiful people: Johnny and Keira.

While there is romance budding onscreen between Keira and Orlando, the real secret love is between Keira and the Captain himself!

Johnny told "Extra" he enjoyed kissing Knightley, to which Keira added, "So did I. He's a good kisser."
