Eva Talks NBA Love and Emmy Snub
July 22, 2005

It seems everyone is desperately seeking details about hot "Housewife" Eva Longoria, but only "Extra" is sitting down with the star to talk about everything from her basketball boyfriend to her recent Emmy snub.

Longoria also told our Dayna Devon about her new passion: helping kids with cancer, which has been a cause close to the actress' heart long before she became a "Desperate Housewife."

Longoria is now the national spokeswoman for Padres Contra el Cancer, and she's bringing her NBA champ boyfriend, Tony Parker, into the battle with a visit to The Ronald McDonald House in Los Angeles.

Eva Longoria: I love being around children, and I know the impact [Tony] has on signing someone's t-shirt.

Dayna Devon: Speaking of Tony, I know that a lot of times you can't talk to someone without being romantically linked to them. But you said this time they got it right?

EL: They got it right.

DD: What made you say that about him this time?

EL: Well, that's a good question. It was getting to a point where I am linked to my gay friends, I am linked to my co-stars, and it gets to a point where you can't even go to dinner with a friend. Anybody you are seen talking to, you are having a relationship with. And unfortunately, our society believes if it's written, it's true, and that's insane.

But it's clear that Eva is crazy in love with her Frenchman boyfriend, who plays for her hometown basketball team.

EL: He plays the piano. We have a good time and don't care what's written or what's going on.

DD: And he's French? Marry him, for Gods sake.

EL: Well, supposedly we are engaged.

DD: But you're not?

EL: We're not.

But Longoria did reveal that when she's not learning her lines for "Desperate Housewives," she's busy brushing up on her French.

EL: I have to. I mean his whole family speaks French, and all his friends are French, and I want to be in the conversation. I am going to have to get with it.

DD: Okay, so I have to ask. Were you disappointed that you didn't get an Emmy nomination?

EL: No, I didn't expect it at all. I'm new; I just arrived. They have to get to know you. I think Marcia, Felicity and Teri are so well deserved. They all called me the next day, and they couldn't have been sweeter about it. I think Lead Actress Comedy is the hardest category.
