Sandra Bullock and Jesse James Say 'I Do!'
July 18, 2005

Sandra Bullock and "Monster Garage" boyfriend Jesse James shocked friends Saturday with a secret wedding ceremony, and now "Extra" can give you all the details.

Three different posh Santa Barbara, Calif., hotels were overflowing with guests, including Keanu Reeves, Hugh Grant, Constance Marie, William Shatner and Regina King, this weekend, for what was supposed to be a barbeque. But it was all a decoy, according to People magazine Senior Editor Jess Cagle.

"Shuttles took them up to a ranch, and they all sat around having cocktails and then around 8 p.m., close to sunset, they were told there's going to be a ceremony," Cagle revealed. "They were ushered out to kind of a grove of trees where this very, very low-key ceremony was held."

A sentimental Sandra chose to walk down the aisle to an aria sung by her late opera singer mother. The "Speed" star stayed hidden from cameras, but we can reveal the dress she wore: an Angel Sanchez design with ivory and lace.

As for the groom, he arrived in a red monster truck for the nuptials, which had a hoe-down theme. "The bouquets on the tables were made out of old barn wood," Cagle revealed.

A Wyoming florist used field and meadow flowers to highlight the vintage western party. Guests danced to a bluegrass band as well as records spun by Ellen DeGeneres' TV deejay, Tony Okungbowa. Sandra's own sister even made the wedding cake.

"It was a great carrot cake," Cagle said. "There were 270 individual carrot cakes made for the guests as well."

Scores of paparazzi, some hovering in helicopters, tried to get a glimpse of the bride and groom. One paparazzo was even arrested during the festivities. But Cagle insisted, "Sandra really wanted this to be a very private wedding."

So what about the rock? Well, Sandra is sporting an antique wedding band from Neil Lane, while husband Jesse has slipped on a Bullock original. "She made his ring herself," Cagle told us. "She learned how to machine, and she actually made it herself in his shop."

Yes, it seems Sandy is full of surprises! And "Extra" wishes the happy couple congratulations.
