Pitt Checks into LA Hospital for 'Flu-Like Symptoms'
July 12, 2005

From an African adventure to a Los Angeles hospital, "Extra" has learned that an ailing Brad Pitt checked into Cedars Sinai Medical Center Monday night, complaining of flu-like symptoms.

The "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" star has recently been on a whirlwind world tour, which some insiders fear may have the Hollywood superstar severely rundown.

Just two weeks ago he took center stage in London's Hyde Park for the Live 8 concert, while co-star Angelina Jolie and son Maddox appeared down the road at the Cornwall show. Then Brad joined Angelina in Ethiopia about a week ago where she adopted her new baby girl, Zahara.

"Extra" has learned that Ethiopia is a hotbed for Malaria, and the incubation period for contracting the deadly disease could fit with Brad's travel timeline.

Then Brad and Angelina boarded a private jet for France, where Brad reportedly was house hunting in the French countryside.

And finally, after returning to LA, Pitt jetted off again this past weekend up the California coast to Monterey, where he was spotted with buddy Matt LeBlanc on Sunday at the Red Bull Grand Prix Motorcycle Race.

Brad's publicist told "Extra" that she doesn't know if Pitt contracted the illness while in Africa, but said, "I think he has the flu."
