Celebs Use Star Power to Help Good Causes
June 12, 2006

Jessica Simpson took the little black dress to a whole new level this weekend, all in the name of charity.

The superstar joined Joaquin Phoenix, Rachel Bilson, Rebecca Gayheart and Salma Hayek at the Butterfly Ball in support of Chrysalis, which teaches people who are homeless how to be self-sufficient.

A stunning Eva Mendes joined up with her fellow Hollywood friends at the event and showed off her brand new blonde do. And Courtney Love dressed to impress -- with a makeover and little black dress of her own.

Across town, things were decidedly more summer casual at the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS event, where Marcia Cross read to the kids.

The charity, which supports children with HIV, is one the hot "Housewife" holds close to her heart. "It's been a part of my life as it's been a part of many others," she said. "I have family living with HIV."

Marcia was joined by a very wet Tom Arnold, Christian Slater and Kobe Bryant, who told "Extra," "I'm reading, I'm a reader this year. I'm a Dr. Seuss man."
