Inside the Stars' Beachside Mega-Mansions
June 8, 2006

From the silver screen to the beach scene, Hollywood's A-list is going coastal for a summer retreat. "Everytime the summer comes, every celebrity has two things on their mind. One, they want to go somewhere they can escape and not be seen, and two, they want to go somewhere they can be seen," revealed real estate guru Barbara Corcoran.

Corcoran said the stars can find all of the above in high-priced, high-style Miami Beach.

One star who already has that figured out is Matt Damon.

Before the action hero starts shooting "The Bourne Ultimatum" later this summer, Damon may be practicing his short game on the private putting green he added to his $10.3 million Miami Beach pad.

"It's right on the ocean; he has total privacy," Corcoran revealed of his palatial digs.

Another star who enjoys his privacy and long walks on the beach is Billy Joel, who has a $9.5 million, 6-bedroom waterfront property that's most definitely fit for a surf-side "Piano Man."

However, many of the stars don't stray too far from La-La Land, choosing to make Malibu their summer home stomping grounds.

Forever popular with celebs with big bank accounts, Malibu's glittering coastline is home to A-listers like Brad Pitt, who bought a $9 million home after his split with Jennifer Aniston.

Charlize Theron got a "Monster" of a deal on her Malibu dream home, a steal at $3.4 million. Plus, Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Baby Coco live just down the beach!

New to the ‘Bu is newly single Oscar winner Hilary Swank. She recently rented a 2-bed, 2-bath beachfront pad originally built in 1956.

And while Sandra Bullock is out promoting "The Lake House," she and tough-guy husband Jesse James have set up shop far from the Hollywood spotlight in California's Seal Beach.

So when it comes to summer living for Hollywood, life's a beach.
