Nic Cage, Robert De Niro Face Legal Woes
June 22, 2005

Nicolas Cage is on the warpath, taking on an imposter who's trying to destroy his good name. The Oscar-winning actor, who recently starred in "National Treasure," is fighting mad because someone has assumed his identity online and has been sending e-mails to Cageís friends and business associates.

Harvey Levin, the executive producer of "Celebrity Justice," broke the story, and he told us the e-mail address used to belong to Cage.

"We are told the e-mails are lewd and sexually graphic in nature," Levin revealed. "Sources tell us because of that, they believe the imposter may be someone who knows the actor and has access to the e-mails of his friends."

Cageís lawyer contacted the Los Angeles County district attorney and the FBI.

Meanwhile, on the East Coast, another celebrity says he's been taken for a ride. Police say Robert De Niro was cleaned out by his housekeeper.

Lucyna Wawrynowicz has been accused of stealing $95,000 diamond earrings from De Niro's wife, Grace Hightower. Police say they later found the earrings in the maid's home.

Wawrynowicz is also accused of stealing from other celebrity clients, including Candice Bergen and Isabella Rossellini.

The maid is now in jail, and her next court date is Friday. She has also been ordered to surrender her passport.
