Cruise Maintains Cool after Fake Photog's Cheap Shot
Tom Cruise received the surprise of his life Monday at the London premiere of his big-buzz movie, "War of the Worlds," and "Extra" was there as a bogus British news reporter took at cheap shot at the superstar.
While Tom and his new fiancČe, Katie Holmes, kissed for the cameras and Tom signed autographs for fans and granted dozens of interviews, out of nowhere a prankster reporter from a British TV comedy show squirted water at Tom's face from a phony microphone.
"It's disgusting," Cruise said of the photographer's prank. "It's just unfortunate that there are those kinds of people in this world."
But the gracious Hollywood star maintained his composure, although he did fire back, calling the fake reporter a "jerk."
Police then hauled the jokester off, along with three members of his camera crew, where they were arrested and could face assault charges.
"Extra" has learned that the water-blasting bandits are the same crew who squirted Sharon Osbourne.
But Tom, like the superstar that he is, handled the incident with class. "I work really hard to make people feel good," he said. "You know when I work with people in my life and people like that work hard to try to make people feel bad, it's disgusting."
Right after the incident, Tom went back to signing autographs, as Katie looked on. And Cruise even talked to our Terri Seymour about popping the question in Paris. "Listen, I love her," he said. "I absolutely love her. We woke up this morning, we're like, three days, and it's that thing like, ėGood morning fiancČ,' ėGood morning fiancČe.'"
So what do Tom's two children think of the engagement? "Very excited, really excited about it," Cruise revealed.
And now, Tom has shown the world, that even when a prankster crosses the line, he never looses his cool or disappoints his fans!
