Britney Finds Herself in Glaring Spotlight Once Again
May 19, 2006

Britney Spears and her 8-month-old son, Sean Preston, pushed their way through a pack of aggressive paparazzi on Thursday, flanked by her security team as she tried to walk from the Ritz Carlton to her waiting car.

But from point A to point B, the crowd watching the pop princess gasped as she tripped with her son in hand. In the blink of an eye, Britney starts to fall and Sean's head flails backwards causing his hat to fly off.

Thankfully, Brit's maternal instincts kicked into high gear as she gripped Sean Preston tightly, and the little tike reached out his arms for his mommy.

A quick thinking security guard helped save Britney and Sean from a precarious plunge to the pavement, which prompted Brit to say this about the paparazzi: "This is why I need a gun."

Seconds later, protective Spears fired off a shot as the shutterbugs as she was hustled into a nearby FAO Schwartz. At first she was all smiles, but eventually, the store manager tells "Extra," Britney was reduced to tears.

So where was K-Fed during all the action? Back in Los Angeles. But in a recent radio interview, Brit's husband said he'd rush to the rescue of his little boy if he was ever needed.

When asked, "If you were on a raft out in the middle of the ocean and both Britney and Sean Preston were in the water, who would you save?" K-Fed replied, "Sean P. baby. My kids, I love you; I love you baby, but I have to save them."

Britney's slip is just the latest in a long line of mothering mishaps. From the car seat scandal to the highchair trauma, luckily both Britney and Baby Sean Preston have come out okay.
