Elliott Says Tearful Goodbye on ‘Idol'
It was the moment of truth that brought nearly everyone to tears, as Elliott Yamin was told he was going home on Wednesday night's "American Idol."
While Elliott had the support of millions of fans, his biggest and strongest supporter is his mother, Claudette. "I love you Elliott," she told her son on Wednesday night's show, prompting Ryan Seacrest to point out, "There's nobody more proud in this room than your mother, Claudette."
Thursday morning, on Ryan Seacrest's LA Radio Show, KIIS FM, the ousted "Idol" explained their special mother-son bond. Her motherly advice for him after the show? "She just expressed her pride and gratitude and her love for me," Elliott revealed. "And I've never doubted that."
It's been a long journey for Elliott and Claudette Yamin. "Extra" has discovered that she raised Elliott on her own after divorcing his father when he was 10 years old.
In 2003, Claudette underwent gastric bypass surgery and has since lost 160 pounds. The two recently located the daughter Claudette had given up for adoption nearly 38 years ago. "I'm so blessed to have been able to experience this with her and my brother and everyone," Elliott confessed.
And loyal Elliott fans beware: this isn't the last of the rising star. "Extra" discovered that all of the top 12 will perform on next week's "Idol" finale, as will reigning "American Idol" princess, Carrie Underwood.
But who will follow in Carrie's award-winning footsteps? In an "Extra" exclusive, Simon Cowell revealed even he doesn't know. "There's no clear winner and that's exciting," he said. "You don't know what's going to happen, and I like that."
While Simon doesn't know who will be crowned the next "Idol," a handful of TV's hottest stars seem to have already picked their winner.
"Grey's Anatomy's" Ellen Pompeo told "Extra," "I really like Taylor."
Taylor also has the winning vote from "The George Lopez Show's" Constance Marie, who said, he is "a combination between Phil Donahue and George Clooney."
But John Stamos said, "I like that Katharine McPhee-- she's cute!"
It's down to the final two, as the country chooses sides and a new "American Idol."
