Why White is the New Black
May 15, 2006

As the weather warms up, cool things down by donning the latest Hollywood fashion craze -- anything and everything white!

According to People magazine's senior editor, Galina Espinoza, white is all the rage. Hollywood trendsetters Lindsay Lohan, Kelly Ripa and Halle Berry were among the first to rock the white, and they helped start the cool and hip tidal wave of white fashion.

So why is white the new black? "White is just one of those colors that works with a lot of different trends," Galina reveals. "One of my favorite looks this season is the cuffed shorts."

But don't worry about waiting until after Memorial Day to whitewash your wardrobe. As Galina explains, "Rules are made to be broken."

With this breezy summer trend, anything goes. But don't get washed out while wearing your white! To keep a natural glow, slap on some bronzer or a little bit of self-tanner to soften the look.

"White can work on anyone's body. The key is to only put it on the areas you want to call attention to," Galina advises.

From preppy shorts, to chic suits and delicate dresses, white is the "it" color for summer.
